By far, my favorite part of Advent is GIVING and RECEIVING! But there have been instances for me where this has been overwhelming. These feelings of "I better get this person a gift because they might get me one," or "I better give a really good reaction so the person who gives me the gifts is happy," can totally overshadow this beautiful part of the season for me. But when I get back to the heart of gift-giving and shift my focus, I am reminded that the reason for giving gifts is a reminder of the greatest gift we've been given - Jesus. Gift-giving and receiving can be so incredible with a shift in focus. When we see it as an opportunity to receive Jesus or give Jesus. So this week at The Chase Is Real, that's just what we're going to do.
There are so many different ways to do this. One of our favorite ways is to use this week as a chance to give a gift to Jesus everyday by doing a Love Chase (random act of kindness). Wherever you are, do something kind. I LOVE going to Target and buying a small gift card to give to someone who's overwhelmed. Or randomly placing a couple of dollars at The Dollar Store on a shelf or bin for someone to receive as they shop. Or writing a kind note and putting it on someone's windshield. There are so many options!
You might try all of our tools this week. Start your day with the meditation. Put on the song of the week and read the verse of the week as you wrap your presents and do the challenge. Think of the person who is going to receive the gift and imagine them smiling, filled with love, and joyful. Then at night, mentally go over the gifts you've received and imagine the giver smiling, filled with love, and joyful. Pay attention to how this changes your days and share your experiences with us in the comments section.
And speaking of gifts....be sure to check out our Facebook page this week! There might just be a special little something for YOU!
