Stop right now (trust me). Go over to this link to listen to this week's song. Don't you agree that this is the journey we often live? The journey of Try. Trying to live into the lies and expectations and "shoulds" of the world. We feel afraid and anxious as we try to meet these impossible expectations and standards as we agree with the lies. But let's do something radically different this week. As we stop and listen to these lyrics, let's stretch our perception and ask God who He says we actually are.
Wait a second,
Why should you care, what they think of you.
When you're all alone, by yourself. Do you like you?
Do you like you?
Now take a look at our verse this week. It answers those questions above. It takes us right back to the beginning of the masterpiece journey and has us, once again, facing the reality that God designed us on purpose, with purpose, and for purpose. He not only likes you, but He is with you always. And, He knew us before we were even shaped in the womb and has holy plans for us. I don't know about you, but all I can say is, "WHOA! Wait, what!? Is He serious?" I react like Jeremiah, later in the verse, where he thinks God must be mistaken. As I read about Jeremiah's thoughts of his own shortcomings, I yell in my head, "Me too Jeremiah, me too!" But God stops us right there in our tracks. He reminds us that He is the Creator, the Author, the Designer, and that He is with us always. All we have to do is remember that, focus on Him, and allow Him to reveal the Masterpiece.
Please join us in our weekly challenge as we collectively agree that God makes beautiful masterpieces and His design is good. Here's what we are going to do. Take the truths from last week's challenge and create some time in the coming days to be who The Artist designed you to be. Live, take action, and like YOU. Write down 10 things you enjoy doing. Things that make you feel alive, and excited, and energized, and happy. Commit to doing at least one of those things each day this week (or get really wild and do a bunch each day). You might consider starting the day with the meditation to help in this process. This is a step of faith in the masterpiece journey where you switch from trying to live up to the unrealistic expectations, to just being you (which is more than enough!) and step into the holy plans God designed you for.
