Last week we recognized and developed our list of lies that we have accepted as true for far too long. This week, our challenge is to take those lies right to God and replace them with His truth.
The verse we are spotlighting helps us to do just that. We are told to focus on "the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse," (Philippians 4:8).
Over the next few days, let's consider doing that with ourselves! How often do we see the worst, the ugly, the curseable in ourselves? Just take a look at yourself in the mirror. I'm guessing you glance right to the part of yourself you like the least (I know I do...hello thighs!). Or in your relationships, how much time do you spend telling yourself how much you messed up? I do this all the time! I find myself thinking, "Oh, I really just hurt or offended her/him." Let's turn things around this week. Join us as we take all those lies and replace them with the best, most beautiful, praiseworthy thoughts of truth. If this is hard for you, you might consider inviting a trusted friend to help you with this. I've spent my lifetime believing and affirming the lies so much, that it's hard for me to see the truth sometimes. A close friend, your spouse, or family member sees your beauty so much easier and can be invaluable in this process. Take your list of lies and next to the lie, write the truth. Following are some of my examples:
Lie: I am lazy.
Truth: I move at a consistent healthy pace and focus on what God has shown me is important.
Lie: What I say doesn't matter.
Truth: My unique thoughts and opinions create change, life, and Love when spoken.
Lie: I could never do that.
Truth: With God there is nothing that is impossible.
Lie: Things never work out for me.
Truth: God is working ALL things for my good.
Lie: I am not _____ enough.
Truth: I am God's masterpiece - created on purpose, with purpose and for purpose. I am exactly what He designed me to be.
The next tool we are offering is this week's song. Click on the link and listen to all of the truth of who you are in it. Write these positive affirmations down, then sing them, say them, and dance with them in mind! Claim them in your life. You shine brighter, you are worth more than gold, you SHINE. Declare the truth of who God says you are in the midst of a world filled with voices telling you otherwise. Consider also starting your workday with this song or with this week's meditation. Notice the difference in your days when you start claiming the TRUTH. You can also write the verse on a piece of paper and place it somewhere you find yourself listening to the lies (i.e. bathroom mirror, car, kitchen, your desk) as a reminder to focus on the greatest, the lovely, the true. And check us out on social media for a giveaway this week to help you sing the truth into life.
